How It Works GitHub →

Your server. Your rules.

Plextortion is a free, open-source tool for Plex server admins who want to have a little fun with their users. Set viewing prerequisites on any library or content, track watch progress, and collect beer money from anyone who'd rather pay than comply.

Four steps to total control

Plextortion sits alongside your Plex server and manages access through the Plex API. No modifications to Plex itself required.

01
Set a prerequisite
Pick a movie your friends must watch before accessing a library or specific content. Want them to watch RoboCop before Mad Men? Done.
02
Target your victims
Choose which users get ransomed. Your local friend group? Absolutely. Your mom three states away? Probably not.
03
Watch progress tracked
Plextortion monitors viewing via Plex webhooks. Once a user hits 20% completion, their content is automatically unlocked.
